*A young athlete of Peshawar has claimed beating the world record of 347
straight arm punch strikes in a minute held by Anthony Kelly of Australia
and setting a new record of most punch strikes with dumb-bells in a minute.
*
Ahmad Hussain demonstrated his skill at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday
and struck a flurry of 412 full contact straight arm punches in a minute to
surpass the record of Anthony Kelly, who figures in the Guinness Book of
World Records. Hussain intends to lay claim to the record and replace
Anthony in the Guinness book.
He also hit a record 148 strikes per minute with two dumb-bells weighing
four kilograms each. He introduced this form of martial art to promote this
sport in the country, particularly the North West Frontier Province, where
healthy activities for the youth are scarce.
A number of sport lovers and experts of karate saw the demonstration and
adjudged Hussain to be an accomplished sportsman in the punch strikes.
This young athletic man holds a number of medals and records in long jump
and race since his college days. He is also expert in physical fitness and
slimming. He has also a fair hand in karate and proudly announces that
though out of practice, he was still a good karate man and would not give in
easily to any karate expert.

*Part Eastern part Western, ‘Cultures in Harmony’ Thursday night was a
classical partnership between Pakistani and American musicians.*
The classical music fusion was dubbed Sarodh-Sitar-Tabla-Violin Jugalbandi
concert and was an outstanding performance.
The blending of the tunes was so mellifluous that it touched the souls of
audiences who sat silently as if under the influence of magic.
With William Harvey and Emily Holden on violins and Chris Jenkins and Ethan
Philbrick on viola and cello, the quartet kept going into trance-like state
— eventually slowing heart rates, forcing their listeners to close their
eyes who couldn’t help but imagine themselves in a peaceful and heavenly
oasis, like some in the audience made an effort to explain.

Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car
jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed
the other car by just inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head around
and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean,
he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that?
This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call,
'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.
They run around through life, full of garbage, full of frustration,
full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and
sometimes they'll dump it on you.
Don't take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take
their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home,
or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let
garbage trucks take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...
Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day!
