Businessman Arif Husain, a specialist in corporate finance, returns for the 2006/07 season as A1 Team Pakistan seat holder. With a growing economy in his native country, Husain is looking to maximise the exposure of A1GP to grow investment within Pakistan and the Middle East. A1 Team Pakistan driver for the 2006/07 season is Nur Ali, the most successful racing driver to emerge from Pakistan. With the acclaim of the Pakistani President and international racing experience under his belt, Ali is optimistic of making his country proud. Performance Racing will run A1 Team Pakistan in the second season of A1GP. The Swedish based team was originally founded in 1999 and was initially created as part of a business-to-business marketing and branding campaign for an international software company to provide a platform for all their motorsport activities. After just one year, the team was then bought out by Bobby Issazadhe who has operated the team successfully since. In 1999 and 2000 the team ran cars in the Europa Cup for Formula Opel and in Formula 3, racing in continental Europe, the UK and Sweden. The British Formula 3 championship has been the team’s main focus since 2001. With five years experience in British F3, the team have recorded 15 pole positions, 12 wins and 64 podiums. The team have been consistent front runners and finished the championship in 2nd, 8th, 4th and 2nd. In 2006, the team’s drivers finished 3rd, 4th and 7th in the 2006 F3 National Class.
