Anti-India protest for illegal occupation of Nepal lands


"Down with Indian expansionism!"

A sea of people in the streets of Kathmandu chanted anti-India slogans on January 12, 2008, deploring the acts of the Indian security forces occupying Nepali lands in more than 60 different locations along the Nepal-India border.

"India has been continuously threatening Nepali sovereignty", people who took to the streets of the capital Kathmandu in the rally organized by the ruling Maoists' party affiliates chanted in public.

Lekhnath Neupane- the president of the Maoists' affiliated Students' Union addressing the rally asked India to stop occupying Nepali lands else threatened to gherao the Indian embassy located in Lainchour, Kathmandu.

"Do not force us to gherao the Indian embassy premises any time from now", threatened Mr. Neupane.

"This is just the beginning of our ant-India protests for their condemnable acts to occupy our lands and threaten our territorial integrity on a frequent basis", Mr. Neupane added.

"I appeal all the nationalists to unite against the Indian expansionism", Mr. Neupane continued.

Ms. Dama Sharma, the vice-president of the Maoists affiliated Women Organization who looked more aggressive while assuring the mass said "the Nepali Women will all unite to defend the threat to Nepali sovereignty coming as it does from India-Nepal's self-styled traditional neighbor in the South".

India has recently occupied some 20 Ropani of Nepali lands in Pashupati Nagar, Ilam District.

India in all has occupied some 60 thousand hectares of Nepali lands in 60 different locations along the Nepal-Indian border, claim border experts.
